bleh. pain hahaha.
Anyway, word has kind of gotten around my school that i take (quoted) "miraculous pictures" and that I have "serious skill". Hearing stuff like this kind of makes me stop and think, because, if I could have any job in the world, I would LOVE to be the photographer of the Blue Angels (I think there's a group called the Red Barons that are like them). I love to fly and watch people fly, and pretty much, anything to do with airplanes haha. Last September has definetly shown me that when I went to an air show and came up with pictures like these:
[link][link]It was an amazing rush to be in the crowd with the other photographers, being as young as I am, and watching professionals work. It would be awesome to do it for a living (especially since, during the show, they announced that the PR Officer was going up in the plane with one of the demonstrators), I'm just trying to find a way to do it without actually enlisting in the Air Force. I do want to go to college and do ROTC to graduate as a PR Officer, but I know if I did that I would end up being sent overseas to report on any "war-goings-on" and I'm..well, afraid of doing that. I can see myself in the uniform, but I can't see myself overseas or having to say goodbye to family and friends.
And then I look back at my other pictures like:
[link][link]and other people see them and ask if I'm into Fashion photography. I love asking my friends to model for me, and coming up with a "scene" for them to be in, but I don't think I have enough people skills for that. It would be hard for me to make the model feel comfortable and for me to direct them. And, I'm not sure if I would want to be around models all the time =/
So, I guess I'm just thinking through all the different types of photography that appeal to me:
PR Officer for Air Force
Sports Photography (con: too expensive)
Fashion Photography
Graphic Design (?)
Photojournalism
PR for a company
and the one I'm thinking of is photojournalism, because I have great candids and I can usually blend into the background when needed & I have enough people skills to be able to walk up to someone, explain what I'm doing, and take a picture.
I look at each type of photography and I see the cons. Each one has at least 2 cons and I really need to look at the pros haha. I want a job where I'll have a reliable source of income (meaning freelancing, if I did it, would be a side job) & I want to be flexible because well, my boyfriend and I are set for life. We're going to end up getting married (I don't mean to sound over-confident, but that's the way it really is) and since he'll either be in the National Guard or Army when he graduates, I want to be able to move around, so I don't want to be tied down to a company unless they're popular and have places all over the world (maybe...National Geographic?)
And if you read this all the way through, thank you for taking the time to read this. That means a lot to me that you'd either choose to think about what's happening, or that you were bored enough.
I guess, no matter what happens, I'll stay in journalism and continue on the path to AP Art (focus= photography) since that's the best my school can do since they don't offer a photojournalism course. And I guess the only way I'll really find out what I like best is by trying everything and finding out who I am

Peace!
